Freshman Applicants
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Pay your Application Fee of $30 US dollars. If an online Application is completed, the application fee must be submitted with the on-line application.
- Submit your Test Scores
Submit your ACT (American College Test) test score. If you have not taken the ACT, you may submit your SAT (Educational Testing Service) test results. Test results may be submitted from the testing agency or may appear on your official high school transcript. - Submit your official transcript(s).
Currently enrolled high school applicants must submit official transcripts reflecting at least six semesters of high school work. If you are a high school graduate, submit a complete official transcript including the date of graduation. GED applicants should submit an official copy of their GED scores
Transfer Applicants with less than 24 hours of credit
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Pay your Application Fee of $30 US dollars. If an online Application is completed, the application fee must be submitted with the on-line application.
- Submit your Test Scores
Submit your ACT (American College Test) test score. If you have not taken the ACT, you may submit your SAT (Educational Testing Service) test results. Test results may be submitted from the testing agency or may appear on your official high school or college transcript. - Submit your official transcript(s).
Submit an official high school transcript including date of graduation. An official transcript must also be submitted from EACH college or university attended even if credit was not earned. It is the responsibility of the student to contact each individual college or university attended concerning transcript request and fees. NOTE: All Univeristy of Louisville transcripts will automatically be submitted with this application.
Transfer Applicants with more than 24 hours of credit
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Pay your Application Fee of $30 US dollars. If an online Application is completed, the application fee must be submitted with the on-line application.
- Submit your official transcript(s).
An official transcript must be submitted from EACH college or university attended even if credit was not earned. It is the responsibility of the student to contact each individual college or university attended concerning transcript request and fees. NOTE: All Univeristy of Louisville transcripts will automatically be submitted with this application.
Adult Applicants (Continuing Studies)
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- You do not need to pay the Application Fee of $30 US dollars because there is no formal review of credentials. However, you do need to designate your major as Continuing Studies and complete the fee waiver (if applying on-line.)
- Submit proof of high school graduation:
Submit your high school diploma or GED certificate. - Submit your official transcript(s), if applicable.
Applicants with previous college work must not have been in a dismissal status from the last attended institution of higher learning.
Post Baccalaureate (Have Bachelor's and Not Pursuing a Degree)
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- If you did not receive your Bachelor's from the University of Louisville, you will need to pay the $30 (USD) application fee. You do not need to pay the Application Fee of $30 US dollars because there is no formal review of credentials, if you received your Bachelor's from the University of Louisville. However, you do need to complete the fee waiver (if applying on-line.)
- Submit your official degree-showing transcript(s).
You need to submit your official transcript from the school(s) where you received your Bachelor's degree. Applicants who received their Bachelor's from the University of Louisville do not need to submit their transcript.
High School Visitor Applicants
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Pay your Application Fee of $30 US dollars. If an online Application is completed, the application fee must be submitted with the on-line application.
- Submit your Test Scores
Submit one of the following test results. Test results may be submitted from the testing agency or may appear on your official high school transcript. - Submit your official transcripts.
High School Visitior applicants must submit official transcripts. - Letter of recommendation from high school counselor
- High school visitors who have not completed the first half of their junior year must have the approval of the instructor for the U of L course and the Academic Appeals Committee (petition must be submitted along with the application).

College Visitor Applicants
Students who are pursuing a degree from another institution and plan to enroll and U of L for one semester must provide the following:
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Pay your Application Fee of $30 US dollars. If an online Application is completed, the application fee must be submitted with the on-line application.
- If you appying to be a visitor in the Speed Scientific School (engineering), you must submit transcripts from EACH college or university you have attended. Visiting students planning to enroll in 300-400 level Business courses (excluding Economics) must verify required Business prerequisites and GPA prior to enrollment wtih the College of Business Advising Center at 502-852-7439.
NOTE: International students on a F-1 Visa may only apply as a visiting student if they are in an approved exchanged program through U of L or they are visiting from an educational institution within the United States. An official visiting letter must be provided in both scenarios.
Home School Applicants
Home school is an accepted parental alternative to formal schooling in the public or private sector. In the home school, a parent will opt to have their child taught in the home rather than send their child to an established high school.
When a home school student applies to U of L, the Academic Appeals Committee, on an individual basis, must review the application and credentials after the application has become complete. The following is a list of the requirements for home school applicants to be submitted to our office for admissions:
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Pay your Application Fee of $30 US dollars. If an online Application is completed, the application fee must be submitted with the on-line application.
- Submit your Test Scores
Submit your ACT (American College Test) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) test score. - A transcript or list of courses completed (including a grading scale that states the numerical value of a letter grade)
- If any high school credit was earned in a formal high school setting, the applicant must supply a copy of the official partial transcript from that school
NOTE: The academic Appeals Committee may request additional information if they feel more information would be helpful in making an admission decision.
Readmission Applicants
If you have not attended any other college since leaving U of L, have been out less than 2 years, and wish to return to the same academic unit, you may be eligible to complete a "Request to Re-enroll" form. Please check with your advising center. Former University College or Transitional Studies students, students who were visitors, students who were dismissed or who attended another college since leaving U of L must reapply.
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Pay your Application Fee of $30 US dollars. If an online Application is completed, the application fee must be submitted with the on-line application.
- Submit your official transcript(s):
Official transcripts from EACH college or university that has been attended since enrollment at U of L. - If you are applying for readmission because you were dismissed from U of L or another college, a petition form is also required. Forms are avaliable in the Office of Admissions. Deadlines vary from unit to unit.
Non-Degree or Auditor Applicants
Students who are not pursuing a degree or wish to audit courses need only to submit an undergraduate application to complete the admission process.
